Today's blog post is a bit of a strange one.

Over 10 years ago, I didn't know how to initiate contact with people on a professional basis, to discuss their financial and life insurance planning. I had ordered books from Frank J. Rumbauskas at that time in order to get people to contact me for the kind of work I did. He wrote books with the titles of "Never Cold Call Again!" and "Cold Calling is a Waste of Time" - which resonated with me at the time because I had previously been in a banking environment helping the customers and members of that institution. Frank Rumbauskas promoted the notion that "if you're contacting people 'out of the blue' (or 'cold'), you must not be anybody worth talking to."

Today, I was doing a Google search to see what he was up to these days... and I found out that HE DIED!!! He was a young guy - only 45 years old!!!

But THIS was the part that stood out to me on his memorial page: "One way to honor Frank, and support our dear friend Dana, is to help provide funds for this very difficult time of life and for the long road ahead. Funds gathered here will be transferred to a trust for the health, education, maintenance and support of Agnes and Maeve. We encourage you, if you are able, to help in the support of The Rumbauskas family."

And this guy bragged in his course that he NEVER accepted a cold-call. "If I don't know you, you're not getting through." And look at what that perspective COST him and his family.

So, what is it that I am trying to say here? I guess what I want to get across, even in today's day and age of "robo-callers" and IRS/Social Security "scammers"... pick up the ringing phone and listen first to the person who is on the other end of the line. Whether it's me, or someone else, we shouldn't be too proud to accept a telephone call to see if there really IS an opportunity to make things better for ourselves and our families.

It might not matter to the AGENT or ADVISOR that calls on you. Our motto is "Next!" But if they COULD help you to get some affordable coverage, or create a coordinated financial plan for you and your family, you really owe it to yourself to find out more.
